The Infinity Stage at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank functions as both a Virtual Production Stage, and a tool to help educate filmmakers on how Virtual Production can expand the creative possibilities and increase the efficiencies available to their productions–tailored to a TV Slate.
The stage is ideal for the following shoot types:

3D Rendered Virtual Environments around physical actors and props for in-camera shots/scenes

Playback of 2D stitched driving footage in a 3D space for better interactive lighting and increased flexibility

Shoot additional footage after a set or location has been wrapped, with better lighting matches and actor immersion

Exciting and interactive visuals for presenters, ideal for live situations
We strongly encourage an early dialog between filmmakers and the VPI Team (partnered with ILM’s Stagecraft Virtual Production Team) to identify the areas of a project that are ideal for Virtual Production on the Infinity Stage. Book a Meeting with the VPI Team as soon as possible for guidance.
Virtual Production relies heavily on the creation, verification and approval of Virtual Assets prior to the shoot day, so it is important to allow enough lead time when scheduling the initial demonstration.
Lead times can vary depending on the type of shoot (for example: Small Set Extensions, Car Rigs, Immersive Pick-ups, or Corporate / Marketing Presentations), and the VPI Team is available to help determine the best approaches for a project based on anticipated budgets and shooting schedules.
A production is responsible for organizing and providing all other elements required to conduct a shoot on the Infinity Stage. Those elements include but are not limited to:
